We ended the season as League 1B runners up. The old Intense Football Association is no more and the newly formed Active Football Association will be our FA from now on. Nothing major to report on, so until next time..

Sadly, as you have all heard the news about FML. FML is doing a hard reset soon in March of 2010 approximately, and so I have decided that there’s no point in continuing our blog. The journey will continue, however I will no longer be documenting it all.

This will be the last update until the end of the season. I think we will continue to do end of season updates.

Our team got relegated from the Championship at the end of last season, we had a miserable time, we had a number of players coming in and going out, so we had a tough time not only adjusting to a new team but also to a new league. In the end, we were not good enough. However, we will bounce straight back up I believe, we are currently 2nd in League 1b and there are only a few games left. It’s still tight at the top but if we continue to win all our remaining games than we have a good chance of returning to the Championship next season.

I might consider maybe doing some little updates here and there but that’s it, no more. Stay tuned, and check back here again soon…

Wow, what a season! We ended up 3rd to the amazement of Andy Nguyen, he was pretty sure Masculino FC was going to take the 2nd spot however, they lost their remaining games and missed out on promotion all together! Even if they made it to 2nd or 3rd, they would have missed out because of their AI percentage.

Congratulations to Sama United, Horses Head FC, AAndy United and Athletico All-Starz. We look forward in competing with our fellow promoted teams in the Championship next season, it’s definately going to be our toughest test so far.

League 1B so close

I have finished all league games and it’s going to be very tight, as you can see we have ended up in 2nd place but 3 teams can overtake us for that position. Masculino FC is the obvious pick, they have performed really well this season, they were with us from our first season in the original league 1b. I heard a rumor that the manager of AAndy United helped Masculino with their tactics after they had comprehensively beat Masculino FC in both home and away games in the first season… maybe we shouldn’t have shared our trade secrets..

Masculino have improved alot since then and I won’t be suprised if they get promoted, we have to worry about the other two teams, Horses Head and Athletico All Stars.

We have a good chance but we need both of them to draw at least one game, if that happens than it would be a miracle!

We have just won the LADDER League 13 with one game left to go. We move up to League 12 next season.

We missed out on making it three in a row in the LADDER League 13, so we will be taking another crack at it. In the mean time we have added the 4th official trophy.

Grassroots Cup Final Victory!

Celebrations have been going on all night after the victory over AFC Mon C.B.S. in the St.John Grassroots Cup final today. 2-1 the final score, this is the 4th official piece of silverware for AAndy United and the fans and board members will be extremely happy with manager Andy Nguyen after this excellent cup run. They can now look forward to the Cups Winners Cup.

Looking at the possession, it was a very even affair. Having the same amount of shots aswell, however AAndy United had more of the clinical finishing than their counterparts. After the match we had a few words with both managers.

Q. Here we have the proud manager of AAndy United, what are your thoughts on the cup final and what did you think of your opponents performance today?

Manager: I am extremely pleased with the teams performance today, I think we had the game under control early on thanks to the 28th minute goal from Pasu. He has been a brilliant signing for us and he has been bagging alot of goals ever since, and the scary thing is that his still improving!

AFC Mon C.B.S. are a very tough side to beat for us, in the past we have struggled against them and it’s very satisfying whenever we beat them. Today they put in a great performance, unforunately for them we had an even greater performance.

Q. So after getting your hands on a major cup, what’s next for you and your team?

Manager: Well, we are going to focus more on the league, not that we weren’t already focused on it before. Okay, I’m going to go celebrate this victory with the boys, I’ll talk to you later…bye…..

Well there you go, once again, wise words from the manager of AAndy United. And now we have some words from the AFC Mon C.B.S. manager.

Q. Your team has done quite well to get to the final, especially in your last game where your side scored an amazing 7 goals. However, today your team could only manage one goal late on in the match. What went wrong?

Brian O’Halloran: Too many players had an off-day, unfortunately. The better team on the day deservedly won.

Q. What are your thoughts on the final?

Brian O’Halloran: The final was a good, sporting game – unfortunately for us, our game plan never really took off. Andy’s team well deserved the victory.

Q. In your previous encounter against AAndy United, you actually came out on top, were you dissapointed that you could not beat them again?

Brian O’Halloran: Absolutely! It was a cup final, after all.

Q. What are your thoughts on how your season has progressed and what are your plans for the future?

Brian O’Halloran: Delighted to reach the final, but overall a disappointing season. Some overall of the team is required, especially at the back.

Club rankings and stadium expansion update…

A few days ago we were actually ranked 35th, our highest rank ever so far. I was too lazy to take a screenshot so I don’t have proof of it but you can be sure next time we get a higher rank, I will post it up. Since then we have dropped a few places down to 48th, we have also gained an extra half star in reputation.

Also, we have begun construction of a new stand. The West Stand was demolished and work on a 2-Tier ‘Aziendale’ II had started as there is huge demand for our highly entertaining matches, 35,000 to be exact. We have decided to just build the stand first, this will take about 11 days and then we will start filling it out with seats later on due to financial constraints.

League 1B so far…

We had a good start in the second half of the season in League 1 Zone B, although I feel the team could of done better. We have lost 4 games so far due to poor defending in the last 10-15 minutes, conceding late equalisers or losing the game when we were leading for most of the game. This is very annoying and one can only sympathise with the manager, the team must learn how to cope with the pressure much better in the future, otherwise they can kiss their promotion dreams goodbye.

I like to point out that Sama United is a very good side and that I believe they are our main rivals for this league. Both of us have taken 3 points off of eachother, although they have done better vs other teams in this league and so far they have only lost 2 games.

Another team I am worried about is Horse’s Head FC, as you can see they are still undefeated. We have yet to play them and it will be very important in that we take maximum points off of them. It’s going to be very tight at the top and it’s going to be a tough fight for that second automatic promotion spot.

League 1 Zone C First Half Final Standings

Well we finished the season in 7th place, the same position we did last season. I’m happy with the finish because this season the league we are in was so much harder, so many good teams. In the end we couldn’t achieve what we set out to do at the start of the season, we came to this conclusion fairly early too so it wasn’t a dissapointment come end of season.

The first half is now finished and so Zone C was demolished and we were moved once again, back to our old league from the 1st season in Zone B. Media Pundits have already predicted we win this league and I, myself do not disagree with this notion.

Our team is much stronger now than we were in our first season and again, we hope to take that promotion spot if not outright win the league. And so we have already won our first league game against Joga Bonita XI 1-0 on their grounds, a terrific start to the 2nd half of the season. Not to mention, the second season is more important because of the extra UFFA qualification spots.

Update: Well it looks like the UFFA qualification doesn’t apply to us, only the teams in the Premiership and Championship will get the qualification. Dammit
